South America got off to a wild start with how close a majority of the matches got last month. We managed to start the year with a bunch of surprises including an unexpected Finals match that didn’t include LOUD and a crazy gauntlet run featuring our final two teams brawling through fourteen sets each. It was definitely the most entertaining region to watch of the four main regions and we hope that doesn’t change this month. Especially with how the bracket is laid out this month. Let’s go over our hot storylines and end off with our lovely predictions.

The New Top Dogs
South America did not disappoint with their first Monthly Final of the year with two new orgs finishing in the Top 2. New Heights Gaming & Eternal weren’t exactly the most popular picks heading into the Monthly Finals, but both teams grinded out fourteen total sets throughout the event en route to an incredible 5 set nailbiter that ended in Eternal’s favor. Eternal qualified from the Losers Bracket again, but this time they will have to prove that their previous run wasn’t a fluke and likely go up against a tough matchup in the Semifinals regardless if they win. New Heights Gaming meanwhile has it a bit easier with their bracket going up against a new team in Acre Lovers and two teams with weaker scrim results than the entire bottom half of the bracket. If all goes well, New Heights Gaming should be able to remain on top and inch their way closer to clinching a Brawl Cup spot.
Do or Die Time
The Road to the Brawl Cup will very likely end with our Quarterfinals Matchup between our two Semifinalists. LOUD going up against SKCalalas SA is the highlight match of the Quarterfinals in this region with it being a bloody battle between two teams who were expected to meet in the Finals last month, but both came up short losing in their respective matchups. With a Brawl Cup spot on the line and with how far behind they are on the leaderboards, it’s a must win match for both teams. LOUD should be the favorite heading into this matchup looking solid as they did last year. Plus they started out slow last year and still managed to claim a Brawl Cup spot. SKCalalas SA meanwhile has been practicing like crazy and has the best scrim results out of the qualified teams, but scrims can only take you so far. No matter who wins, the winner still has some more catching up to do while the loser will have to forget about the Brawl Cup and focus on the long term plan of playing some Brawl in the Fall.
Iced Out of Luck
While the four teams we mentioned above are having some pretty good seasons overall, the same can’t be said about Olimpo. This team showed a lot of promise before the season started looking like a potential underdog in the postseason race and it looked like that was the case after the first Monthly Qualifier. Then everything went downhill after that losing 3-1 to the eventual Monthly Finals Champions in Eternal. This month they qualified from the Winners Bracket again and looked like they could be a good team again with some solid scrim results, but then tragedy struck at the worst possible moment. IceCrow was disqualified and had to be replaced which was gut wrenching to hear. They were able to find a sustainable replacement in Meliodas, but with very little time to prepare with their sub and going against the reigning champs, it might be difficult for Olimpo to thaw themselves out of this disaster. Can they turn up the heat and pull off an upset, or will they stay ice cold and put themselves further behind on the leaderboards?
