South America July Monthly Final Bracket
South America July Monthly Final Bracket

Usually this is when the East Asia Monthly Finals would happen, but due to some scheduling conflicts with the Brazil Challengers event the South America region will be starting off this month. A strange change of plans, but that means we’ll be entering our second straight week of South American Brawl Stars. Eight teams have made it once more and the LCQ race at least will be very interesting to watch. Meanwhile the race to qualify for Worlds isn’t super close and we could possibly get one or even both spots locked up. Let’s see who we got facing off this month!

Bounty Hunters VS. SKCalalas SA

  • The Bounty Hunters are looking to further cement themselves as the most dominant team in the region this year with another near perfect Qualifier performance. They will not only be searching for their 5th straight Grand Finals appearance, but also potentially lock up a Worlds spot if they manage to win their Quarter Finals Match. We’ve seen this team look a little rocky in the previous Monthly Final almost bowing down to teams barely in the Top 8 in OCX Division & Acre Lovers and it certainly won’t be easy here with three teams on their side of the bracket who are capable of bringing them down. This will probably be the toughest bracket they’ve faced yet, but one thing for sure is that this group will be very entertaining to watch this month.

  • The Juan Carlos experiment is off to a rough start as SKC were unable to claim a single set against a GLXY roster who got hot at the right time. Despite this blown opportunity to get closer to the lone LCQ spot, they are still in the race only being behind by 22 points so a good month from them could place them in a better position to steal it at the last moment. Unfortunately that is easier said than done as they’ll have to face the best team in the region as well as two other solid teams in their side of the bracket. It doesn’t help that their scrims have also been on the weaker side lately so it will definitely be an uphill battle that could send them tumbling down to the bottom if things don’t go as planned again.

Acre Lovers VS. LOUD

  • Once an unknown team with very little results to show, Acre Lovers are now the new breakout team after going on a rampage and coming one game short of winning the Monthly Finals. They still have a lot of catching up to do on the leaderboards, but they have impressed the South American scene with their latest performance and they look to keep this momentum going the rest of the way. An LCQ spot is within reach and another performance like last month could get them closer. Don’t underestimate the Acre Lovers the rest of the season now that we know they can tangle with the top dogs.

  • LOUD on the other hand are in a very tough spot none of us foresaw starting the year. They clearly haven’t recovered from their reverse sweep defeat against Bounty Hunters back in March as they have yet to win a single set in the Monthly Finals since then. It doesn’t help that looking at their performance in the Qualifiers, they didn’t win a single game in the Winners Qualifying Match against GLXY. LOUD have clearly seen better days, but the good news is that they still technically control their own destiny remaining in third on the leaderboards as of right now. With the way they’ve been playing in scrims and who their first opponent will be against this month, it’s not looking good for this group. Maybe their draft game will improve for once, but only time will tell on that.

Olimpo Squad VS. QuieroQueQue

  • This is a big opportunity for Olimpo Squad to pull away in the race for the lone LCQ spot. They were on a roll last month getting another sweep against LOUD, but the Acre Lovers thwarted their plans of controlling their own destiny and will now have to rely on getting a run as good as or even better than LOUD’s. They seem to have found their stride together and are clicking things well, but will it be enough for them to make their first Grand Finals appearance of the year? It’s definitely doable, but their most important match of the season so far will likely come in the Semi Finals. They’ll at least get a chance in the Brazil Challengers if things go sideways, but the chance at leapfrogging LOUD for the lone LCQ spot is not something they’re gonna let slip out of their hands.

  • It took them five Monthly Finals to get here, but we finally got an appearance from Triple Q after several months of coming up short. It’s been a pretty rough year for B4st & Deykon as they have fallen short so many times which includes not qualifying for the RTBC SA West Playoffs and more recently falling 3-1 in the Grand Finals of the SA West Challengers Finals this past week. Todd has at least competed in the Brawl Cup this year, but hopefully he’ll be able to keep his teammates chins up this month as even though they likely won’t be competing in the postseason this year, they can at least try and cause a little mayhem and end the year on a high note.

GLXY Gaming VS. Pizza Congelada

  • This is a crucial month for GLXY to go on a deep run as they are in a good position to shift things quite a bit on the leaderboards. Originally they started the year on a slump as they weren’t able to secure a match win during the Spring Split, but ever since they added IceCrow to the team things have been taking a turn for the better. A nice Semi Finals run helped them in their efforts to stay alive in the hunt for the lone LCQ spot, but they’ll need more results like that if they want to play more Brawl in the Fall. GLXY has been looking like a dark horse lately and could potentially make a Finals run if everything goes their way, but their first opponent will be a true test of skill to see if they are up to the challenge.

  • Although they have been playing a bit underwhelming lately, Pizza Congelada should still be a threat to any team looking to make a deep push in the Monthly Finals. They did unfortunately get sent to the Losers Bracket for the third time this year at the hands of the Acre Lovers again in another tight contest, but there is still some hope that they can clinch a Worlds spot early if all goes according to plan. A run to the Grand Finals and having a third date with the Bounty Hunters will mathematically punch their ticket to Tokyo, but another underwhelming month like last time could put them in a dangerous position for the finale in August if teams like LOUD, Olimpo or GLXY go on a deep run themselves.

Lucky's Notes

There will definitely be quite a few tough matchups to predict this month as I believe the Quarter Finals have two of them at even odds. Bounty Hunters and Olimpo Squad should be able to roll through their first opponents with ease, but I could very well see the other two matchups ending either way. This is the first time I don’t feel too comfortable taking LOUD with how they’ve been drafting lately, but a lot of pressure will be on the Acre Lovers to repeat that same success they had last month. GLXY VS. Pizza Congelada is also a tough one to predict and I think the winner of this match likely advances to Grands so this will be huge for one team to either break away or get a big boost on the leaderboards. Whoever wins that matchup will still likely face Bounty Hunters and will definitely be considered the underdogs. Bounty Hunters are my go to pick to win it all this month, but if you’re feeling creative then I’d say whoever you got winning GLXY VS. PZC is your next best bet.
