[RUMORS] Where is Sergeant playing in 2027?

On September 8th, Sergeant Clash confirmed a move he’s been teasing on streams for over half a year: his intention to compete overseas. Initial whispers in 2026 hinted at Sergeant wanting to move to a team in EMEA for the latter half of the 2026 season in order to fulfill the goal of every Brawl Stars player: Win the world finals. The Indian national, known for his legendary underdog runs including his Top 8 in 2023 and his Top 4 finish in 2025 which have established himself as one of the current greats despite the limitations of his home sub-region, where he struggles with ping and a lack of scrim partners. Following a devastating 2026 season with an early elimination at the Brawl Stars Challengers Finals, Sergeant has announced on X that he is exploring the possibility of moving to either East Asia or EMEA for 2027, giving him a platform to compete alongside some of the best players in the world whilst showcasing his individual talent in a more receptive environment. 

For the past few years, Sergeant has been limited to competing in his home region of SESA due to one main reason: his education. Outside of his Brawl Stars endeavours, Sergeant was also a full time student, leading a double life as an academic and a brilliant player. People often forget that despite Sergeant’s long career, he is relatively young as a person, and has been pursuing his further education. This created limited opportunities for him to not only move to another region, but also to practice with his team. SESA’s lack of regional competition created a skill drought for a player of Sergeant caliber. Oftentimes, he would face zero resistance in his Monthly Finals campaigns, only finding difficulty when meeting teams of a much higher skill level abroad. Sergeant has grown to this level without access to proper training, but feels it is time to see just how far he can go in the right place.

FUT’s Angelboy, 2019 World Champion SpenLC, and 3x Reigning World Champion Tensai were the three biggest names to vouch for Sergeant and his skillset on X through their replies and vouches. Despite the underwhelming 2026 season, most of the community believes that all that Sergeant was missing a proper chance to consistently compete. The Indian captain will no doubt have many options for his 2027 season, but we’re going to explore some of the options that are both feasible and realistic.

East Asia

A move to East Asia would allow Sergeant to remain relatively close to his hometown while returning to a familiar region. He previously competed in East Asia alongside Terry and Ken G in 2024 with RNT. However, in arguably the worst season of his career, Sergeant’s East Asian run is definitely one to forget as the roster imploded early into the season with little to no success, largely due to Sergeant’s extremely high ping. Despite this, the region would still offer him an environment he has already acquainted himself with. Many of the players in East Asia are regular scrim partners of Sergeant, while his two former teammates mentioned above continue to compete at the highest level. The existing familiarity could make the transition considerably easier if he ultimately chooses to return to Japan’s playground.

Language barrier is the biggest problem that Sergeant would be facing in East Asia. Communication is an important aspect for a player like Sergeant, as his IGL style gameplay requires him to be the leader of his team. No matter who Sergeant teams up with, the problem of uncommon ground would haunt him in dire times and communication would be a struggle without knowing the native language.However, if we assume that Sergeant and his prospective teammates can work around this language barrier, where would Sergeant actually fit? He has been known to be one that “carries” his team with a play style comparable to someone like Angelboy, a leader. Sergeant would need to find a team that requires his specific role. The East Asia scene has a small talent pool compared to EMEA with most players loyal to their current organisations. This leaves Terry as an option, who was rumoured to join Revenant XSpark as a replacement to Hiroshii in the 2026 season. His other former teammate, Ken-G, is also an option that exists given FENNEL’s early end to the season at home, but Sergeant could have a language barrier with his third teammate. Whilst evaluating the entire East Asia scene, there are nearly no options for Sergeant that make sense without an evaluation of the pros and cons, begging the question of whether it’s worth it for him to explore their market again. East Asia starts seeming less feasible when actually noticing the problems in terms of players from other countries. A large part of the scene is native to Japan, this creates a huge language barrier for other countries to enter the game. The game servers are located in Japan which gives Japanese individuals an advantage, further limiting other countries such as Korea, and in Sergeant's case; India.However, East Asia presents a massive advantage in terms of the competition Sergeant would have. Although the competition at the top is still strong, East Asia does not have the same level of competition as EMEA in terms of the Top 8 in its entirety. Other than that, East Asia also had the lowest registrations of any region, suggesting that competition is decreasing constantly and allowing Sergeant a chance to step in at the tier one level headed into 2027.

EMEA

Contrary to East Asia, Europe would represent an entirely new stage for Sergeant. The region's large English-speaking player base would provide a more comfortable system of communication for him. EMEA has been heralded as the strongest region in the world since 2024 with a historically massive amount of underdog competition. This move could give Sergeant access to a more competitive infrastructure and a stronger environment in which to develop and prove himself. Furthermore, EMEA has been known to import talents, like Zhar in 2025 with Team Heretics and ex-teammate Terry in 2026 with NOVO. EMEA also contains the largest and most organisations in comparison with other regions, and therefore has the ability to provide better financial backing for Sergeant’s endeavours if he will be forced to move to a server location anyways. When evaluating Sergeant's options in EMEA there are many more names we can link to Sergeant. His IGL style means that he would be required in a team that is struggling in draft and synergy, someone like SK Gaming. Following their equally disappointing 2026 season, there is a possibility that Sergeant could join and take SK back to the top if the roles slot in nicely. There are multiple names that Sergeant may team up with, with early rumors suggesting that players such as Enraged, Marco, LeNain, Dompe and iKaoss are all names likely to see changes as we enter the offseason later this year. This means they are more likely to look for a new team, one with a player such as Sergeant.

Similarly, Sergeant will be looking at the top players who are not constricted to their organisation as well as players who have a different brawler pool, despite his incredible flexibility already. We could also see a possibility of Sergeant entering EMEA alongside Maru and Maury, following the Reply Totem situation where Joker was locked to his contract, there is a high likelihood that Joker will be looking to leave for the 2027 season, leaving a slot open alongside the Italians. In terms of organisations, there have been several rumors about organizations like GiantX and PCIFIC who will be looking to build for 2027. Furthermore, Fokus Clan is rumoured to join, and it is unknown what will happen with CGN’s roster going into 2027 after their failure to qualify to the post-season. While there are many possible pathways for Sergeant in EMEA, the move would ultimately represent a major shift in both competition and environment. However, for Sergeant the focus remains much simpler: adapting to the new format and competing at the highest level, one that we believe is easier and more plausible than a move to East Asia by every account except distance.

“I am extremely excited but also quite nervous since we are going to be having a league format and not a regular monthly final format. Going to EU will have multiple challenges but it will be very exciting to play in the most competitive region. If I am being honest, I do not have many expectations from the community, I just want to go and win.”
