In a meta that’s already filled with a ton of chaos, East Asia added to that chaos by having arguably their most upset filled Qualifier of the year. With lots of close games, close calls and heartbreaking defeats, East Asia’s Monthly Finals have been decided and look to continue that chaos in the first Monthly Final LAN event since a time where Brawlers only had one gadget to pick from. There’s a lot to look forward to including the possibility of teams clinching for Worlds already. Let’s see what’s on the line for our eight teams this weekend!

ZETA DIVISION VS. T5S
The road to qualifying from the Upper Bracket was once again a very tall order for ZETA as they once again struggled in the Opening Round and were taken to a double match point. Luckily they managed to lock in when it mattered and pretty much breezed their way through the rest of the bracket and claimed the top seed in the region. Even though ZETA is all but guaranteed to make it to Worlds at this rate, they could technically clinch a spot already with a run to the Grand Finals or getting a little help from Crazy Raccoon. Looking at their bracket through, the highest ranked team they’ll possibly end up facing en route to the Finals is #8 REJECT so they should be in a good position to claim it, but they will first have to go up against the team who sent them down to the Lower Bracket again.
A new team with a familiar face has stepped into the ring seeking a rematch against the team they almost embarrassed in the Qualifiers. T5S consists of Sanikama who does have experience in the Monthly Finals, but he’ll be running it with two teammates making their debut. They almost took ZETA getting in a Match Point scenario twice in the Qualifiers, but they couldn’t seal the deal and had to go on a four match winning streak to make it here. As the lowest seed to have qualified from the Monthly Finals in this region at #32, T5S are looking to make history by not only avenging their past mistakes, but also pulling off what could be the greatest upset of the year.
AXIS E-Sports VS. REJECT
Terry is making his return to the East Asia Monthly Finals with his new Japanese teammates! After not being able to qualify last month, AXIS were able to pull off an incredible run that included a close match against INSOMNIA and a huge upset against Crazy Raccoon to qualify from the Winners Bracket. While they might not be playing for a chance to play in the postseason anymore, they’ll be aiming to secure their first win of the season under their new org. The crazy part is there is a real chance that might actually happen if you look at who they’re facing.
REJECT have had a pretty woeful season overall missing out on their second Monthly Final of the season last month and this month was almost a repeat of what happened in those Qualifiers. Luckily REJECT were able to pull off a run good enough to qualify, but they’ll be having the busiest weekend out of everyone competing this Saturday. That reason being they’ll have a Monthly Finals and a Challengers event happening which could be their only chance at competing at a LAN event this year. Not only will getting some practice against AXIS be good for them, but it would make for a nice revenge story for what they did to them last month as well as give them the motivation to give it their all on the following day. This would also be their first Monthly Final match win of the year so there’s another reason for this team to lock in. Will they succeed or will this weekend be the final nail in the coffin for REJECT’s season?
Rival Esports VS. Siesta
After a huge Grand Finals run that put them in the driver’s seat of the lone LCQ spot, Rival Esports are here to stay ahead of the little competition they have remaining. The only things standing in their way from a miraculous postseason appearance are themselves and an SKC team looking hungry. The good news is that they’ll likely make their way to the Semi Finals with the way they’ve been playing, but that Semis match will definitely be a tough battle to win no matter who they end up facing. This includes a possible matchup against SKC to determine who will be in control for the final month. The pressure is on and we’ll see if Rival can handle it or if their reign of being a Top 3 team will be short lived.
A new challenger has arrived and they are looking to play spoiler this month! Siesta aren’t the most well recognized team mainly because this is pretty much everyone’s first time competing in a big event like this, but their journey has been quite impressive. They kept it somewhat close against SKC in the Winners Bracket while also managing to upset IGNUM in Losers to sneak their way. It’s certainly a long shot, but they could have what it takes to make it interesting against Rival if they play their cards right.
SKCalalas EA VS. Crazy Raccoon
This will easily be the most challenging and nerve racking event SKC will compete in all year as they will be forced to go through a gauntlet of the other teams ranked in the Top 4. Crazy Raccoon will have to be their first opponent which will certainly be no easy feat, but there is some hope considering their scrims have been going well. Their goal this month will be to make the Grand Finals as that would guarantee they get ahead of Rival on the leaderboards before the finale. If there was a month for SKC to give it their all, it would be this one. If not, their road to clinching a postseason spot will be much more difficult.
Crazy Raccoon also have a pretty difficult journey ahead of them this month, but they also have the possibility of clinching Worlds this weekend. All they’ll need to do is make it to the Grand Finals and they’ll secure their golden ticket to playing in their home country for Worlds. SKC will certainly be a tough first challenge and Rival who will likely be their Semi Finals opponent did upset them in the previous month. CR haven’t gotten completely used to the Map Draft format quite yet, but there is some hope considering their scrims are some of the best in the region. Even with an early defeat they should still be in good hands at securing Worlds next month, but why wait when you can just claim it now?
Predictions

Lucky's Notes
Looking at how the teams have been performing lately, I feel this will be a slightly easier Monthly Final to predict. ZETA DIVISION should be a clear cut Finalist this month with how their bracket looks currently. AXIS VS. REJECT might be a bit interesting to watch and I could very well see REJECT get their first win of the season here, but taking AXIS would probably be a safer bet. Rival should be able to make it to Semis, but I don’t think this will be a month where they’ll advance further than that. SKC & Crazy Raccoon are both looking very tough and it’s a shame they had to meet in the Quarter Finals. Considering we are at a LAN this time though, I think CR will be the favorite to win and advance to the Finals. ZETA is my favorite to win it all with how their bracket looks, but CR is definitely a strong contender to take them down.
